My approach to singing is based on the Functional Voice Method, with particular attention to posture, breathing, and their coordination as a foundation for developing overall vocal technique.
Rather than trying to make every singer fit a particular idea of what a “good” voice should sound like, I’m interested in helping each student explore and discover their own natural, authentic voice. The goal is to learn how to organize and coordinate the body for the task of singing, allowing the voice to work efficiently, freely, and in a healthy way.
This approach involves more than simply working on vocal exercises. We explore how posture, movement, breathing, resonance, articulation, and other aspects of the body interact during singing. Through this process, students can develop greater awareness and control while building a voice that feels more stable, comfortable, and expressive.
I’m also very open when it comes to repertoire. I believe that exploring different musical styles can be extremely useful for discovering different aspects of your voice and learning what works best for you. Lessons can incorporate the music you enjoy while using repertoire as an opportunity to apply and develop your vocal technique.
My goal is not to impose a particular sound on the student, but to provide the tools and understanding that allow each person to develop their own voice.
